Clinique vs. cover girl.. is there really a difference?

I used cover girl for a while, but approx 6 months ago started using clinique... but is there really a diff? yeah clinique has better coverage but so does cg... so does it just wear longer, it does cost a lot more! but if I rarely wear makeup should I just buy cg... any other suggs of makeup? should I spend that much $$$ on makeup?Clinique vs. cover girl.. is there really a difference?
to someone who said you should 'invest' in your skin; that you will have it forever, this is true, but drugstore makeup WILL NOT RUIN YOUR SKIN!!! it's not true.

what ruins your skin is sun damage, smoking, genes, and not regular cleansing.

now, for skincare products, i use clinique and bare essentials for my cleansing and my makeup base. everything else i use drugstore. i used to fully HATE covergirl with a passion because i was a makup snob. now i own almost all of their lipslicks (awesome products that a lot of makeup artists have -- there is one called daring that looks like clinique's black honey), and while they have a bit of smell you get used to it; it lasts.

covergirl also has an eyeshadow called aqua paradise that is a dupe of one of mac's shadows; forgot the name, and the website i saw it on. their eyeshadow called champagne is really nice too. revlon has nice shadows.

wet n' wild eyeshadows are fun too, and go on great; although you might want to avoid them if you don't like shimmer. but they're still fun, regardless. and wet n' wild's 666 brandy wine is the same as a mac shade and makeup artists go wild over it; just do a search on the 'net. it's .99 cents, and mac's is like $15.

l'oreal does have some nice makeup bases with loads of color. drugstore makeup has come a long way. and their makeup is made by the same company that makes lancome.

jane has great eye pencils.

so there's not a huge difference. it's all in how you take care of yourself. if you don't smoke, don't bake in the sun, and cleanse your skin regularly, you will be just fine. make sure you take your makeup off every night.

good luck and have fun! don't be ashamed to try drugstore makeup. it's cheap and loads of fun.

my favorites at the moment are l'oreal color juice, which are a knockoff of lancome juicy tubes. they don't have as much sparkle but they're nice.

in other words, i would invest in your skincare products. but don't ever pay like $80 for a night cream. it's not worth it. clinique is a great mid priced brand that is wonderful. everything else ... i'd go cover girl since you say you don't wear makeup much, but it's up to you.Clinique vs. cover girl.. is there really a difference?
great! thanks! so glad i could help :-) i hate the misconception that you have to spend hundreds of dollars on product to look good, when truth is you don't have to. it does take some time to look for what looks good on you, but that's the fun. :-) Report Abuse

and to the girl who mentioned l'oreal true match -- i was wondering about those. thanks for posting it :-) Report Abuse

covergirl tests on animals, boycott it.
i use both, but i think that clinique is better.

clinique is a bit more in cost, but it works really good and its great for foundations.
A lot of the price difference between department store brands and drugstore brands is the packaging. For example, Clinique lipstick comes in metal tubes, while Covergirl lipstick comes in plastic tubes.

The advantage of the department store packaging is that it protects the makeup, making it last longer. However, if you use enough makeup that having it last for more than 6 months or so is not an issue, go for the Cover Girl!

I hope I helped!
I don't know about Cover Girl, but a good friend of mine works for Clinique and she swears by Loreal True Match makeup. She says it is better than Clinique, and WAY cheaper. I personally LOVE bare minerals/ essentials. I just started using it after using MAC for a long time and I love love love it.
What you buy/can afford to buy is something that only you should deside. But look at it this way...The skin you have now is the only skin you will ever have. If you dont take care of it then it will show later down the road. Wouldnt you want to take care of and invest in something your going to have forever?
Lorelle has a new line of mineral makeup that's about $10. the coverage is great and its good for your skin=]
use bare essentials. its the best make up ever! ever since i started using this product, i get so many compliments! i dont ususally wear alot of make up either, it jsut gives you a clean smooth golden look. Nars blush is the best too!
there is a difference.

each product of clinique has been tested 100 times by 100 different people, and if even 1 person had an allergic reaction, they would change their ingredients. this means that someone is less likely to be allergic to it. forinstance, my friend Cadie was allergic to every makeup under the sun, but when she tried this, this was the only makeup that didn't break her out, clinique is better for you skin.

covergirl has a bunch of cheap fillers, and alot of harsh ingredients, which causes you face to age if you wear this for a long period of time. my friend tried this and it gave her a terrible rash, and she had to go the doctor, and now her face will have this rash for a year or two, so now she has to buy very expensive makeup to give her enough coverage as to not expose the rash that cg gave her. so, yeah, covergirl=bad harsh ingredients=you will see results overtime clinique=quality ingredients=less likely to age with their products.
